Bob Schneider – HOB

We almost recreated Christine’s bachelorette the other night. We saw ol’ Bob at Gruene Hall and Sandra snagged us tickets for us to see him again. Leah and I went once in college too, so basically Bob is getting up there with Dave Mathews concerts now.

Christine, Sandra, and Leah met at my house and we ate blueberry muffins for our pre-concert event. Sarah just happened to be there with a coworker, adding to our Gruene Hall recreation (we never did run into Kim, I guess living in Dallas makes that not so likely).

This is Leah and her friend Bob. His music is just fun, so listen to it. She also remarked that he never looks the same. His hair was crazy jelled up at Gruene Hall and I think he was a skinnier man when we saw him in college.

We were a little confused on the time of this event, so we were early. We really thought that it wasn’t going to be that crowded, but we beat the crowd. Beating the crowd allowed us to get a sweet spot. Leaving this spot and coming back to it was pretty difficult, potty breaks were tough, but it was a great view. The gals and I were super close. It was a fun night and it makes me crave some more fun nights. I need more concerts in my life.

Today is Devin’s 4th birthday and we celebrated it on Saturday. Sandra did a fabulous job of putting the party together. Devin opened all his gifts pretty quickly. He had to see what was in every package IMMEDIATELY. After his whirlwind unwrapping session he hugged everyone in the room and said thank you. This little guy is growing up to be a pretty sweet and polite kiddo and I’m very proud to say that I have a perfect attendance record at this child’s birthdays.

Sandra turns a Quarter Century

This picture may look a mess, but it was a fun night and I think this captures that. Sandra has turned 25. This girl continues to amaze and impress me. She works full time while raising two adorable boys. Sandra has taught me so much about how lovely things can be if you just put a smile on your face. Thank you Sandra for 7 years of inspiration, I can’t wait to see what I learn from you in the rest of our grown-up years.

Last week I hung out with Devin and Christian a bit. Sandra has done good by these ones. One day was hard work, I can’t even begin to comprehend how it would be to hang out with these kiddos everyday. Sandra Vela Pree is a spectacular mother.

Friend of a Friend

Last Saturday I attended Sandra’s lifelong friend’s bachelorette party. Desiree is getting married in two weeks and I only see her for functions like Sandra’s wedding and baby showers. She did visit Sandra a few times at A&M as well but although she is someone I don’t know very well, I like her a lot. Desiree is very sweet and kind in a way that most people give up on sometime during college. She will do great things and I will hear about them through my friend and that is really what a good “friend of a friend” is.

Every one of my friends has a friend that I enjoy hearing their life updates through my friend, but they are not my good friend. I think it is the same kind of curiousnes that comes with reading a stranger’s blog. I don’t know them personally, but I like to hear that things are going well for them or hear they just took a really cool trip (I always enjoy hearing about a good trip).

Friend of friends are characters in the lives of my closest friends. Their involvement in my friend’s lives make up a big part of my close friend’s lives because they are their close friends. Point is: I am fascinated by the friends of others and Sandra’s friend serves as an example to that. If you followed any of this, I’m impressed.
